Gov. Palin Resigns, Makes Fool of Herself and GOP

Here is NYT video of ridiculousness.

If I was a Republican I would be incredibly angry at this lightweight. She was almost Vice President of the United States for Christ sakes, yet she gives up with a year left in her term.

Yes, she gave up. What a joke she is and the GOP has become.

I am a strong believer that friction and competition among the two parties makes our republic stronger and better managed. And in my lifetime I have never seen the Republican Party as low as it is today.

Governor Palin, much like Governor Sanford and so many other Republicans leaders, is now a national punchline. It would be quite funny if it weren't so sad for America.

It appears the best, the smartest, the most compassionate citizens interested in public service now flock to the Democratic Party, as the GOP represents tired old white men with neither the ideas nor the passion to lead our country. And that is not a good thing.

I wonder what the political landscape will look like in two years? In five years? Will the Democrats increase their majorities in the Congress? Will another party rise up, such as Ross Perot's attempts years ago? What is to become of the party of Lincoln?

After recently reading "Fiasco", Thomas Ricks account of the War in Iraq, I have come to understand that great leaders of men think strategically, not tactically.

They must keep their eyes on the larger goal, the big picture. And that must be very difficult in these times for GOP members, who see their party struggling in so many ways.

The resignation of lightweight Palin is a sad day for ALL Americans.
