Youk was given away by the Sox because he CAN'T PLAY ANYMORE. Decent numbers for Chitown in the second half gave Cash-man the idea that he can still play.

Joe,
It looks like you are right. Youk plays intensely hard and guys like that can't keep healthy in their later years. (Well at least not without PEDs.) Ther competative nature, however, keeps them coming back. Plus, they try to play thorugh injuries and it agravates the stituation. See, for example,
Erstad, Posoada, etc. This may happen to Pedroia and Papelbon too.
