The man who built a career around being a smartass got a bit too smartassedly for Fox Broadcasting, apparently.

Steve Lyons has been fired (Hallelujah!) for making a poor joke that some folks found "racially insensitive".

Christ, they could have.....should have....fired him for being an awful announcer. Simply dreadful. No idea about strategy, always stating the obvious. Man, he got canned for making a bad joke about Lou Piniella stealing his wallet: not the reason I would have fired him.

Now if we can just get rid of Bob Davie.
